Locally Grown
GreenLeaf partners with an expansive network of local farmers, all “out-standing in their field”. We share a mutual commitment to quality, integrity and innovation.
Farmers who work with GreenLeaf are able to concentrate on growing, while we help to spread the message about their farm and products. We do not play farmers off one another to extract “deals”. GreenLeaf forms a partnership with farmers, helping them to develop new products and plan how much of what to grow in upcoming seasons. GreenLeaf wants the growers we work with to thrive, growing sustainably and organically, so they can stay in business, providing our customers and future generations with delicious, healthful fare. When GreenLeaf fosters these relationships and our customers buy products from our local farmers, we’re all supporting the farmer’s way of life and helping to keep agricultural land in production.
Why not just buy from a Farmer’s Market? You may see produce a bit riper at Farmer’s Markets because it is picked with the knowledge that it’s to be sold that day, after only one trip on a truck. When you buy from GreenLeaf, produce must withstand the rigors of packing and shipping to us, then to you, and the parameters are a little different. We have to balance perfect ripeness with providing a bit more shelf life and travel time. We love going to Farmer’s Markets, but consider for your kitchen that we deliver to your door 6/7 days weekly, with produce and products from over 500 local sources over the course of one year, along with hundreds of products in Dairy, Cheese and Specialty.
What is GreenLeaf “Alpha?” Whenever possible, we “Alpha” local fruit and vegetables. This means GreenLeaf works with our growers on fair pricing to them – and to you – and we sell only that item versus offering an additional, conventionally grown alternate. Just a few examples among the dozens of farmers we work with to Alpha products in any given season are: Jacobs Farms Herbs, County Line Baby Mixed Lettuce, T&D Willey Farms Bloomsdale Spinach, Coke Farm Celery Root and Escarole, Belton Farms Kiwi and Mattole Meadows Quince – all organic, all locally, sustainably grown and all at competitive price points for you.
